College Car Shipping

Get your car to campus without a two-day road trip during the most hectic week of the year. We schedule around move-in dates and academic calendars, coordinate between parents booking and students receiving, and handle the campus-area delivery logistics that make car shipping to college straightforward instead of stressful.

How It Works

Three steps from quote to delivery.

01
Tell Us the Dates & Campus

Move-in day, orientation week, or semester start — give us the date your car needs to be there and the campus or off-campus address. We schedule transport backward from your deadline with enough buffer for the standard pickup window. If you're flying to campus and need the car waiting when you land, we time the delivery to match your arrival.

02
We Handle the Drive

While you're packing dorm essentials, booking flights, and handling registration, your car is on a vetted, insured carrier heading to campus. No two-day drive through three states, no gas money, no wear on the vehicle, no coordinating a second driver to follow you back. The car gets there on a truck — you get there however is easiest.

03
Campus-Area Delivery

Large car carriers can't navigate campus roads, residence hall circles, or parking garage entrances. We arrange delivery to the nearest accessible point — typically a student parking lot, a nearby commercial lot, or an off-campus meeting point. Someone 18 or older must be present to inspect the vehicle and sign the Bill of Lading. That can be you, a roommate, a friend, or a family member already in the area.

Key Considerations

What to know before you book.

Move-In Week Is Peak Season

Late August and early September are among the busiest weeks in auto transport — college move-in competes with general summer peak demand and the early wave of snowbird season. Carrier capacity tightens and rates increase 10–15% compared to off-peak months. Book 3–4 weeks before your target delivery date to secure a carrier at standard rates. Waiting until the week before move-in means paying surge pricing and competing with thousands of other families doing the same thing.

Campus Access Logistics

A standard car carrier is 75 feet long and 13.5 feet tall. It cannot fit on campus roads, under parking garage clearances, or through residence hall turnarounds. We identify the best delivery point near your campus before dispatch — not after the driver arrives and can't find anywhere to park an 18-wheeler. If your school has a designated vehicle receiving area or student lot, we'll use it. If not, we'll arrange the closest accessible meeting point and let you know exactly where to show up.

Parent-Student Coordination

The person booking and paying is usually a parent. The person receiving the vehicle at campus is usually the student. We coordinate with both parties — the parent gets the booking confirmation, carrier assignment, and tracking updates, while the student gets the delivery logistics and driver contact information. Both parties are kept informed. The student (or any designated adult 18+) inspects the vehicle and signs the Bill of Lading at delivery.

Pricing Guidance
College Shipping Guidance

Cross-state college moves typically run $600–$1,200 depending on distance. Northeast to Midwest campuses: $500–$800. East Coast to West Coast (e.g., NJ to California schools): $1,100–$1,700. Book by early August for late August delivery — move-in week rates run 10–15% above standard pricing. End-of-semester return moves in May and December face less competition and are priced more favorably. Repeat semester shipments (fall drop-off, spring return) can be coordinated as a package.

FAQ

Common questions.

Yes — this is one of the most common college shipping setups. Arrange for a roommate, friend, or family member (must be 18 or older) to be present at the delivery point to inspect the vehicle and sign the Bill of Lading. We'll coordinate the delivery timing with whoever is receiving, and you'll have your car waiting when you arrive. If nobody is available to receive, we can work with you on alternative arrangements.

Book by early August for late August or early September delivery. Move-in week is one of the busiest periods in auto transport nationally, and carrier capacity fills quickly on routes to college-heavy regions. The earlier you book, the better your rate and the more control you have over timing. Waiting until the second week of August for a September 1 delivery puts you in the surge pricing window with a tighter pickup window.

In most cases, no — campus roads and parking structures can't accommodate a 75-foot car carrier. We arrange delivery to the nearest accessible point, which is typically a student parking lot, a commercial lot near campus, or a designated meeting area. We confirm the delivery point before dispatch and share the exact location with both the student and parent so there's no confusion on delivery day.

This is standard for college shipments. The parent handles booking, payment, and receives the carrier assignment and tracking updates. The student receives the delivery logistics — where to meet the driver, the driver's contact number, and what time to expect delivery. At delivery, the student (or any designated adult 18+) inspects the vehicle and signs the Bill of Lading. Both parties stay informed throughout the process.
